3-Day Exclusive Private Safari to Amboseli National Park

Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds. Arid-looking, it has historically supported both game and the Maasai who kept their herds of cattle here. Thanks to the waters that run off Africa’s greatest mountain, the dry Amboseli, Kenya’s first game sanctuary can support its wildlife. Mount Kilimanjaro broods high over Amboseli, generally cloaked by clouds but appearing in all its snow-shrouded magnificence occasionally. The mountain now provides water for the park, wonderful views and of course the most glorious background for animal photography.

Itinerary
Day 1: Journey to the Land of Giants & Sunset Elephant Drive

Morning: Early morning pick-up from your residence or hotel in Nairobi (or a short 45-minute scheduled flight from Wilson Airport to the Amboseli airstrip). Drive south through the scenic Maasai plains, watching the city skyline give way to wide-open African savannah.

Afternoon: Arrive at your camp or luxury lodge (such as Ol Tukai Lodge or Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge) in time for lunch and a brief midday rest. Head out for your first evening game drive. As the afternoon clouds begin to clear around the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro, you will track Amboseli’s legendary elephant families moving across the plains. Return to the lodge for dinner and drinks by the bonfire.

Day 2: Full Day Exploration, Observation Hill & Maasai Culture

Morning: Set off for an early morning game drive when Kilimanjaro is usually most visible and free of clouds. Drive to Observation Hill for a light walk to the summit, where you will look down on the lush, green Enkongo Narok Swamps packed with hippos and elephants.
Afternoon: Enjoy a relaxing lunch back at the lodge. In the afternoon, visit an authentic, local Maasai Boma (village) to witness traditional songs, high-jumping dances, and learn about their ancient co-existence with local wildlife. Wrap up the day with a spectacular sunset safari across the shimmering, dry Amboseli lake bed before dinner.

Day 3: Dawn Safari, Marshland Birdwatching & Return Journey

Morning: Head out for one final sunrise game drive along the marshlands to capture stunning silhouette photos of giraffes and elephants against the dawn light, while spotting some of the park's 400+ vibrant bird species.

Afternoon: Head back to the lodge for a full breakfast, check out, and begin your journey back. Arrive back in Nairobi by late afternoon (or board your flight back to Wilson Airport), bringing an end to your unforgettable Amboseli adventure.
